Founded by experienced community organizer Danny Chiotos in 2018, Vandalia Energy Services is leading the way making good projects happen.


Vandalia Energy Services is striving to become West Virginia’s first employee-owned solar company. We have a commitment to both make good projects happen for our clients by making sure our business creates and sustain good jobs in a democratic workplace. We have set the goal of becoming West Virginia’s first employee-owned solar company by the end of 2019 based right here in Charles Town.

Danny Chiotos,


Located in the small town of Charles Town, West Virginia, Danny Chiotos has a big dream to live among healthy communities powered by renewable energy. He has a dream to live among communities with thriving non-profit organizations and successful local businesses.

Easy to work with and professional, Danny Chiotos works with anyone from engineers and project managers to business development staff to ensure proposals are well-organized, well-written, and submitted on time. As a NABCEP Solar PV Associate Professional with years of experience in the clean energy industry, he has the subject knowledge to complete a winning proposal. As a Foundation Level Certified Proposal Writer, he can guide you through the process of both organizing and writing a winning proposal.


  • Worked with financial analysts, project engineers, business development staff and more to submit proposals with Standard Solar on a full time basis in 2018. In fact, he enjoyed this work so much that he left this full time job to be closer to his family and to launch Vandalia Energy Services.

  • Developed more than 3 Megawatts of community energy storage during his 2015 - 2018 time as Sales and Marketing Director with Mosaic Power to grow its Water Heater Efficiency Network. Through getting contracts signed with entities from local housing authorities to some of the largest property management companies, Danny Chiotos led the cutting edge sales development of using the energy storage potential of water heaters.

  • Served as the Operations Director with the Keeper of the Mountains Foundation from 2010 - 2012 where he served as the sole staff person who quickly built an organization of low-income volunteers. During his time, the organization doubled its budget each year, built a speakers program, hired its first additional staff person, and more.
