Located in the small town of Charles Town, West Virginia, Danny Chiotos has a big dream to live among healthy communities powered by renewable energy. He has a dream to live among communities with thriving non-profit organizations and successful local businesses. He started working to implement this dream while a student at Shepherd University to conduct energy audits of University buildings and now works with both energy efficiency and solar companies to win jobs. He has deep experience in the non-profit world building organizations of everyday people to win environmental justice policies and has secured grants large and small to support their programs. Danny Chiotos, owner and lead writer, has been working in the non-profit and business world to implement clean energy since 2007. He has worked in the most challenging of situations to grow clean energy in West Virginia which is dominated by fossil fuels. Through energy, dedication, and creativity, he has served as a project leader to implement small scale projects with non-profits program development and community supported solar projects.
Worked with financial analysts, project engineers, business development staff and more to submit proposals with Standard Solar on a full time basis in 2018. In fact, he enjoyed this work so much that he left this full time job to be closer to his family and to launch Vandalia Energy Services.
Developed more than 3 Megawatts of community energy storage during his 2015 - 2018 time as Sales and Marketing Director with Mosaic Power to grow its Water Heater Efficiency Network. Through getting contracts signed with entities from local housing authorities to some of the largest property management companies, Danny Chiotos led the cutting edge sales development of using the energy storage potential of water heaters.
Served as the Operations Director with the Keeper of the Mountains Foundation from 2010 - 2012 where he served as the sole staff person who quickly built an organization of low-income volunteers. During his time, the organization doubled its budget each year, built a speakers program, hired its first additional staff person, and more.
